Best Boutique Hotel in Dumaguete? Here’s Why UNWND Should Be Your Top Choice

Dumaguete City, often called the “City of Gentle People,” is more than just a stopover—it’s a charming destination in itself. While many travelers pass through on their way to the mystical island of Siquijor, Dumaguete deserves a little more time on your itinerary. With its relaxed coastal vibe, historic charm, and growing café culture, it’s quickly becoming a favorite among tourists looking for a quieter alternative to the big city buzz.

If you’re looking for a comfortable, stylish, and well-located place to stay in Dumaguete, UNWND Boutique Hotel should be at the top of your list. Nestled just 3 to 5 minutes from the Dumaguete-Sibulan Airport, this boutique property offers a serene escape complete with a pool, lush garden surroundings, an in-house restaurant, and even a poolside bar.

A Closer Look at UNWND Dumaguete

UNWND is not your average hotel. It’s a thoughtfully designed boutique space that blends island charm with modern comfort. Whether you’re staying for a night before heading to Siquijor or planning a relaxing vacation in Dumaguete, UNWND provides a refreshing environment with just the right amount of luxury and character.

The Rooms

UNWND Dumaguete offers a variety of room types to suit different preferences. We stayed in the Cabana King Room, which instantly became our favorite. These nipa-hut domes are a unique offering—cozy, charming, and surprisingly spacious.

The king-sized bed was incredibly comfortable, and the pillows made it even better—we had such a restful sleep throughout our stay. The room also comes equipped with essential amenities like a refrigerator, cabinets, a working table, and a clean, well-appointed bathroom.

For those who prefer twin beds, the Cabana Twin is also available at a similar rate depending on your booking platform.

Relax and Unwind: Amenities You’ll Love

1. Pool
UNWND’s dark blue pool is a standout feature. Sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing, it quickly became our favorite hangout spot. Whether you’re taking a quick dip or lounging by the water with a drink in hand, the pool area offers the perfect balance of chill and chic.

2. Garden Areas
The property is surrounded by lush greenery, creating a tranquil, nature-inspired atmosphere. It feels like a private hideaway, with tropical plants and quiet corners that make the entire stay feel like a wellness retreat. If you enjoy peaceful walks and being close to nature, you’ll love it here.

3. Outdoor Gym
For those who like to stay active, there’s an outdoor gym set amidst the greenery. It’s a unique setup that lets you enjoy fresh air while keeping up with your fitness routine—a nice touch that’s not often found in smaller hotels.

4. Games & Chill Zones
You don’t even have to leave UNWND to have fun. The hotel has its own entertainment corner where you can play casual games like UNO, try your luck (and skill) at beer pong, or relive some retro vibes with their arcade vending machine. Whether you’re traveling with friends or making new ones during your stay, this area adds a playful twist to your downtime.

Dine at MAMSER! Restaurant

UNWND Boutique Hotel Dumaguete also has an in-house restaurant, MAMSER!, which serves both in-house and walk-in guests. If you’re staying at the hotel, breakfast here is complimentary—and it’s not your average breakfast! The flavors are distinctly Filipino, and the servings are generous, making it a great way to start your day.

During our stay, we got to try their Chicken and Pork Adobo, a comforting classic that hit the spot.

What really stood out for me though was the Chorizo de Dumaguete—it was my first time trying it, and I loved it! It reminded me so much of Chorizo Bungkag, but with a more peppery kick, kind of like the longganisa you’d get in Vigan. Definitely something worth waking up early for.

You also don’t have to worry about meals throughout the day. The food at MAMSER! Restaurant is consistently good—hearty, flavorful, and mostly Filipino favorites.

Some of the dishes I highly recommend you try:

  • Sisig Palabok – A creative twist on two Pinoy favorites. This dish combines the classic palabok with crispy sisig on top. We were surprised by the portion size—it came in a big bowl, and it was absolutely delicious. Rich, savory, and definitely a must-try.

  • Pork Sinigang in Kamatis – The soup had just the right level of sourness, and the pork was fall-off-the-bone tender. It’s been a while since I’ve had sinigang this satisfying!

  • Carbonara (from the Kids’ Menu) – Creamy, cheesy, and packed with bacon. Honestly, don’t let the kids have all the fun—this is a dish for all ages.

  • Cinco Formaggi Pizza – Cooked in their brick oven, this five-cheese pizza was the highlight of our meal. It comes with a drizzle of honey that beautifully complements the rich flavors of the cheese. A perfect balance of sweet and savory.

Poolside Bar

Right next to the pool is a poolside bar, ideal for lounging with a refreshing drink in hand. Whether you’re into fruit shakes, mocktails, or cocktails, it’s a great place to unwind after a swim or enjoy a lazy afternoon in the sun.
